Ever seem as though you are the only person on fire? Hi everyone, I am new to the forum today and am glad to be here. I was wondering if any of you had ever felt that you were on the journey alone. I am amazed at the amount of parishioners in our parish that seem to be so complacent about the grace of God doing work in their lives. We have Eucharistic Adoration and no one comes. We have Stations of the Cross and it's the same thing. We have a great pastor and young parochial vicar who spread the word of God very enthusiastically, but the parish seems to just mope along. We have Sunday coffee hours after Mass once a month with poor participation. Soup suppers after Mass once during the week with poor turnout. It seems as though the secular world has gained control and I don't have an answer. I was hoping that some of you may have gone through the same thing and somehow stirred the flame to create  some vibrancy in your parish. It has to be disheartening to the priests when their work seems to fall on deaf ears. Any ideas? God Bless G1j
Always remember to have God first in tour life.

RE:Ever seem as though you are the only person on fire?  God bless you Jimmy! You seem to be experiencing a little of the feelings Jesus felt deserted by His friends- and during lent no less. When you know of something so wonderful it is really difficult to see others trivialize it. My suggestion is very simple - pray. Especially the Rosary. I was very pro-active in younger days but now, with health concerns, I seem to have joined the watch and pray set. You will listen to the Spirit I am sure to guide you in what YOU should do since he put this burden on your heart. Your feelings are shared by many. Talking during church, chewing gum, talking on cell phones during mass. it make one's soul hurt when we know what is taking place at the mass. Keep trusting in your uniqueness and what God is asking of you. He will let you know.

RE:Ever seem as though you are the only person on fire?  I used to dwell on this "feeling" all the time until I started to ponder the lonlyness our Lord must have experianced most of His life. I often picture Him, although surrounded by thousands, being alone in His thoughts, as the Apostles could never comprehend what He was trying to tell them. Therefore I have concluded, there is no such place anymore called lonliness as our Lord has been there too :) And when we find ourselvs there "In The Dark Night", He is there hidden until we can grab and hold on tight in faith, as He leads us through it :)
