Discovering Jesus I am not an avid TV watcher and rarely watch EWTN but this evening I turned on the TV to see what was on EWTN and there is Word on Fire's Living the Discerning Life:  The Spiritual Teaching of St. Ignatius of Loyola. So, I start watching and I see these two images and I wanted to know more about them...gold wall with Jesus's one had lines all around his crown and sides of his face and the other was looking straight ahead and had more of a golden face.

I had this dream the last night and it was just a gold wall with Jesus face with these lines around the crown and sides of his face and it was unncannily similar to these images.  The lines in the first photo were so like the dream and the eyes looking straight ahead were so like the other photo.  Plus this morning I just happened to be looking for a kids bible online and the one I found let me look through the stories...the first was about Adam & Eve, the second the story of the man and his two sons (which was in the above EWTN show that I just watched) and the third was the Pharaoh Joseph dream.  This kind of thing happens a lot since the 7th of October before last.  So, after a year & a half of this sort of thing it seems the Holy Spirit keeps telling me in some way read the Bible, go to church and more recently there is some connection with the lessons of the Study Guide from the 7 deadly sins and the 7 lively virtues that a group of us started a couple of weeks ago at church.  I find it fascinating and somewhat shocking at times since I was agnostic raised in an aethiest family and never learned about Jesus or the Bible or anything until I became Catholic almost two years ago. Which was really good because the turmoil in the past two years of my life has been surreal at times.  I feel like there has been an awakening inside me and now that I figured out what God is trying to guide me to do I feel like I am slowly catching up and I greatly appreciate all the good Christians who help me along my journey.

I'm kind of thinking I wish I had a masters in Theology at this point it would serve a much greater purpose in my life

God bless.

RE:Discovering Jesus
THE WRITER

(For Mary and Phil Leonard)

“What’s written for me”

I wanted to write out my life-
I tried so hard I burst-
And then I found at Calvary
Jesus wrote it first-

Costing Him much more than me-
My musings a dead letter-
And His life alive for mine-
His Living Word was better

Than my clever little rhymes,
Cruel playthings of an aging boy,
A shallow singing of sad times
Maturing to His Manly Joy.

The Art of Life is hung at Calvary-
Nails piercing the Master’s hand
That recreates after the Fall
The Life of Heaven for us all.

He wanted to right out our lives-
Live life with us from the Cross-
Each Man’s book is written there
And we read our lives in prayer.

To create from joy and suffering
Our offering up of each small task-
To let His Flesh and Blood be ours
In the Mystery of the Mass…

And let Him write out with our lives
The living of His life again,
Until we truly learn to sing
The poem that will never end.

I was healed of insanity - my mind shattered in 1982 ( a bitter Anti Catholic) by Jesus in the Catholic Church - a thirty year journey into JOY God Bless You----.Peter Whalen

RE:Discovering Jesus Beautiful.  I am sorry if my words were not as elegant and sories not as developed as some of the others on this forum.  Please forgive me it is work in progress.  I was basically giving a breif overview of why I was so interested in the images.  I don't feel like the story is complete...not that it will be : ) as the poem suggests.  However, I do find as things happen there are particular messages sometimes as the story unfolds.  Believe + Pray +  Go to church + Read the Bible + Learn? Teach? Do? = Save : )

RE:Discovering Jesus Everything is prayer - it is our conversation - our Being with Jesus. I do not believe our eloquence means much to Christ at all - not the beauty of our words. I have met beggars in soup kitchens that had a depth of love for Christ that I have been awed by, and have known those with Masters that did not Love much at all....it is LOVE that wins the heart of this King....He IS after All  - the King of LOVE. RE:Discovering Jesus I forgot to mention the importance of prayer.  Yesterday I also go to see the St Francis Adoration & Mary Chapels in Denison TX at St Patrick's and a fire rainbow.  Very awesome day.  Thank you God.

RE:Discovering Jesus I hope this doesn't sound trivial to anyone, but the words from South Pacific keep going through my head; "... Once you have found Him, never let Him go." It gets to be one long love affair with God once you have found/ come back to Him. I whole-heartedly agree about the importance of prayer. When things are good I tend to think they will always be good. When things get bad, cancer, loss, grief, I need to pray to get reminded that all things work for good if we trust God. Yes prayer is very important!

RE:Discovering Jesus He will never let you go : )  That was one thing I also found so amazing.  When I tried to explain to someone the first time I witnessed the Holy Spirit he asked me if I though that it had always been with me or if it was something that just happened. It was really hard for me to answer this.  I had never known what the Holy Spirit was but I had also never looked for it.  After that I began to look back at things that had happened that were unexplainable and it occured to me that the Holy Spirit had been trying to guide me all this time but I never saw it because I never looked for it.  I always shrugged it off as an unusual coincidence or tried to justify it some how.  So sad.  But at least now I know that God never gave up on me and I don't think he ever will and I will never let him go.

RE:Discovering Jesus I was very very ill thrity years ago - a Jewish Buddhist psychologist - working with me daily - finally threw up his hands and said  -"the only hope for you is to become a very devout  Roman Catholic"   - i wondered if it was Chirst working through him - and I found in mental instituitions - amazing insights into Christ - if one discerned and listened with a very careful ear; the Holy Spirit worked in the most unlikely way - I took the little clues as coming from Heaven and let the mystery of the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit Himself piece them all together into a mature whole//////holiness  ---at some point in my journey I realized that to be an adult on this planet(I was psychotic) was to be in a State of Grace in the Catholic Church.  And so it tis. People don't believe all this has happened to me very simply because people don't believe. I am a Lay Carmelite and president of the Legion of Mary in my parish -- The Holy Spirit leads me about -and I let HIm...  God Bless You   Peter

GOING WITH JESUS

I set out with cane and go very slowly

Know exactly where I am going - very far-

Dump my arrogance – my trip is lowly-

Not made by train bus boat or plane or car-

A journey to the Cross –The Way thru time-

Through which I see myself and the world pass/

Humbled by the little that is mine,

I am brought to my knees at daily Mass-

I smile gently - take the world just as it tis-

Give alms to the poor and kindness to the rich-

It’s not the world as I would have it - but it’s His –

He took my life to Calvary, made a switch-

Shared His Cross with me– I hung insane-

Then He sent me off by cane to LOVE the world.
