AMBASSADOR SUCCESS IN S.C.!
Hi Fr. Barron,
I'm the Ambassador for our parish, St. Mary Magdalene in Simpsonville, SC.
After talking with Peggy Pandaleon I think we might be the first parish to
launch a hosting of the series. We had to begin early because of
scheduling constraints for the physical facilities in our growing parish .
We've had quite an experience so far.
We've embarked on a serious commitment to adult faith formation, and the
Catholicism series has become the catalyst we believe will propel it much
further. After an intense 6-week publicity campaign, we held a preview
and registration event Aug. 20/21 after all 5 of our masses. We also have
an interview running on our local Catholic radio station. After the
preview event we had almost 750 registrants. But it's still growing.
We're now up to 925, as we're getting steady registration on our parish
website from the radio presence. Yesterday, Aug. 28 we held the first two
sessions showing the first episode.
To handle the number we're hosting 5 separate tracks in our parish hall,
with one or two more to come in the future. In the spring we had two
sessions using your "Conversion" and in the summer one using "Eucharist".
Both helped pave the way for Catholicism.
The work of your ministry is being felt here in a big way. I've strongly
encouraged those attending our events to support Word on Fire, and I trust
most have. I'll be asking our parish Outreach Tithe committee soon to also
do so in the name of our parish.
The Spirit is clearly at work in all you do, and we here, among so many
others, are the beneficiaries. We're just one of thousands of parishes,
but hundreds here are now growing in their faith. I'm sure you'll be
hearing from many other Ambassadors soon. The great work of the
Catholicism Project will be in evidence in a big way in many places.
