Sermon 468 : What Makes A Family Holy : Feast of the Holy Family

Today the Church calls our attention to not simply the importance of family life, but the necessity that our families be holy. Holiness is discovered in the realization that our lives are not about ourselves, but are meant as a gift for others. The families that embody this radical gift of self to each other imitate the Holy Family of Christ.

Why no Christmas homily? I know it's not Sunday, but I was looking forward to hearing Fr.Barron 's reflections on Christmas. Nevertheless, it's a great service. Many thanks!

Also wondering why no Christmas homily? We are snowed in out in Nebraska in the biggest blizzard we've ever had at Christmas. Masses all over the state have been cancelled. Fortunately we went to Mass on Christmas Eve, but hoped to go again this morning. When that proved impossible, I suggested that we all gather round and listen to Fr. Barron's Christmas homily...From there I had intended to call several family and friends and suggest that they do the same.
We missed hearing that --- but thanks for all of the other ones that we've heard across the year. (It's a great evangelization tool -- I rarely feel awkward about saying, "Sometime, go to WOF and listen to a homily or two...") Wishing everyone a Blessed Christmas...

Fr Barron gave a great Christmas homily at his home parish of St John of the Cross on Christmas Day. I hope he posts it to this site. My take away from the homily was: Open your eyes and ears as the shepherds did, gather strength from the transcendent angels, and make your life a gift as God did with Jesus.

Thanks you for the words on what it means to be holy which I listened to, wrote down, and will reflect on in the hopes that I may start to live them.
A blessed Christmas to you!
