Sermon 511 : Finding Justification : 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Please click the play button above to listen now.
Religion serves a unitive purpose. In uniting the person to God, religion unites people together. However, many religious people forget religion's purpose. They like to puff up their egos, reveling in their ability to live according to the Law. Seeing themselves as better than the rest, they forget that grace only comes to those who realize they are sinners. The tax collector, realizing he is a sinful man, does not focus on himself, but focuses his gaze and hunger on God - the source of salvation. Justification comes to those who do likewise.

God bless you Father Barron. It's always a danger to become so accustomed to hearing the parables that they can lose their "salt", but you always seem to be able to "re-flavor" it! Ahhh, the beauty of the Holy Scriptures...again coming alive with your interpretation. Thank you for a beautiful sermon.

Deep!!! very very Convicting!!! and at the same time a much needed Spiritual Tonic!!!
Lord help us to stay humble and keep repeating... " Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me a sinner... a miserable sinner!"
Lord help us to do the good and the right, but only with the idea of getting closer to YOU and not so we can compare ourselves with others..

Thank you very much for your sermons. I'd like to have the transcripts of them. Is it possible?

Dear Father,

I always learn from you; and, I thank you so much for your commentary on a Gospel story that I had 'heard' only on a basic, literal level. Your extra explanation brings my understanding to a new level offering a more comprehensive dimension on the Gospel message.

With gratitude.

Thank you Fr. Barron for the way you teach. It is in a way I can understand. My family watched Fulton Sheen and I look forward to watching you as well.
My Pastor Fr. John Greb encourages his parishoners to watch you here in Phoenix AZ aired at 6:00AM. Thank you God!

What a wonderful new perspective for me. Typically, when I go to Eucharistic Adoration, I pray, I ask, I reflect, I thank,.. I,I,I, It's a lot about what I do when I am there. From this sermon, I learned ...Adoratio. I now know that it's not about what I do, it's about what I receive. I am hungry, hungry to take in the Divine Life. I am there to be united with God... united with God! Wow! Somehow I missed this until now, Thank you.

Thank you for the way you make the word come alive. I am starting to "see" Jesus through the word again because of your series on EWTN recently. I had the experience of it going from my head to my heart, briefly, but real.
