Sermon 515 : Solemnity : Christ the King

Please click the play button above to listen now.
Our first reading for Mass this Sunday is taken from the opening chapter of Paul's letter to the Colossians. There is no stronger statement of the absolute primacy, centrality, and importance of Jesus Christ in the entire New Testament. Jesus, Paul tells us, is the beginning and the end, the icon of the invisible God, the one in whom all things exist and for whom they are destined. And then the Gospel shows us this cosmic King nailed to the cross. This wonderful irony is at the heart of the Christian proclamation: the King of the Universe is a crucified criminal, who utterly spends himself in love.

Christ the King! !!! 21st of November

I just love the way you put Christ and His Kingship together in such an illuminating and challenging way.
Bringing Colossians Chapter one alive.
First I want to pay tribute to the comments which appear above from Charles and Thomas and especially by Charles.
Father B You have the anointing so very strongly and we are so very blessed by your talks.
To my fellow Catholics I would like to say, that you, like me do know something about many of these subjects that we hear from Father Robert Barron... But being reminded about them through him in these powerful presentations, brings that fire to burn super brightly in our hearts.
That is the whole purpose of Word on Fire..... To set us on fire so that we too will burn with enthusiasm, and then the world will come and watch us burn too and the message will spread..
This is a call to Evangelism....
Please be sure to pass these talks on to your whole mailing list... and more... tell your friends and all the people you meet about this extraordinary servant of God and His Mission to set the world on fire in this extraordinary window of opportunity that God has given us right now in time.... We live in such a sad and hurting world and it needs healing..That is what Word on Fire is all about..That is what our Holy Mother Church is all about...

The insight into Colossians (1) was inspiring, indeed. I think it is the Living Bible that uses the image of Jesus as the glue that holds creation together. How cool is that!!
