Sermon 523 : Paul's Opening Words to the Corinthians : Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, he highlights the beauty of baptism and how it sweeps the baptized person into God's great theo-drama. God calls us out of the world of our narrow egos to partake in his redeeming plan of love of which the Church is the vehicle. Follow Christ, and peace will be given to you.

Last week's sermon left me looking for an explanation that I could provide to others for why I call myself a Christian. This weeks sermon provided me with an answer that I can give. It was old idea spoken in new way.

Was this planned?

This is a very wonderful talk, Father Barron!

For about a year or two now, I wondered why should birthday be celebrated like what most do. I actually initiated not to celebrate mine upon knowing it was in a birthday celebration why John the Baptist had been beheaded. Then, I came across in my spiritual journey just very recently why not celebrate the birthday on the day of baptism, it must be most worthwhile. So there, I guess we'll start with my daughter's this year together with her Godparents which will certainly be most meaningful!
