Sermon 562 : Caesar and God : 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus places everything in its proper relationship to God. But he also chastises those who are involved in power games. God is ultimately in charge and rules over even Caesar.

Down to earth and infomrative.
This is the best sermon I have ever heard about this. The meaning is explained very clearly and I have not heard it explained so clearly before and I am 65 now and always a Catholic

Dear Fr.Barron,
as usual, another fascinating sermon. Thank you. I love to listen to good Catholic news and teaching. It touchs something deep and profound and growing in this faith is the ultimate fulfillment of ones life. Moving towards and reaching out for God. Bless you.

Fr Barron, this site and your service is great. I am working in Afghanistan and my site currently does not have a Catholic priest. We do meet on Sundays for a liturgy of the word but it is difficult to get the correct meanings for the readings and gospel. Thank you. Do you have this in written format that I can download and distribute on Sundays?

Also, on the Roman Coin bears the title of the "Divine Caesar".
Give divinity to God and give to ceaser what is his.

Thank you so much.

lost and searching
The scheme, the trap, the set-up, in all forms, are games. Life is not a game. Life is sacred.
Some things really are just plain mean, and that, is an active drawing away from the Way, the Truth, the Life. A distraction to the practice of a life of witness.
A life in friendship with God is inclusive of a refusal to cooperate. Yet, the behavior still exists, even in God’s House of Prayer.
How can one refuse to cooperate and still participate? How do you do that?

Robert, I am an Army priest stationed at Ft. Bragg. I don't know which branch you are in, but your Brigade Chaplain is responsible for getting a priest out to you every so often; even in Afghanistan! He should try to get one to you at least once every 6 weeks, or he goes "red". If it has been longer than that, contact your Battalion Chaplain and let him know so he can pass the message up and get someone to you ASAP. God bless you, stay safe!

I always find it both enlightening and humorous that the Pharisees had no clue who Jesus really was. It sort of reminds me of the cartoon with Wiley Coyote and The Roadrunner. Poor wiley is always trying to get the roadrunner, but it ends up backfiring on him. Beep Beep!
God Bless
Gary

Another beautiful homily!
It is keeping me grounded knowing what really matters at the end of the day - my relationship with God.
My prayer and my desire to keep it that way for my young family.

To Robert Giancarlo and others.
I am doing my best and so far I have transcribed many of Fr Barrons sermons here.
http://bibleversereflections.blogspot.com/
I started transcribing it because I have many non Catholics I email the text.
I hope to update the site often.
