Sermon 607 : Really, Truly and Substantially Present : 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time
8/26/2012
Please click the play button above to listen now.
The Lord Jesus is not speaking metaphorically about eating his flesh and drinking his blood - he has come to make of his own Body and Blood real food and drink. This revelation was and continues to be a stumbling block for many, but the faithful accept the mystery of the gift of Christ's Real Presence that is given to the Church in the Blessed Sacrament.

Peace be with you Father Barron!Thank you Father for this brilliant sermon on the Real Presence of our LORD JESUS.I think i understand Father when you spoke of the gratitude Dorthy Day experienced from God when she had given birth to her child. We as Catholics have been given so much. Our LORD JESUS sends the HOLY SPIRIT upon us.Our LORD JESUS gives us his MOTHER the IMMACULATA while dying for our sins on the cross.HE gives us Holy MOTHER CHURCH and the SACRAMENTS,especially the MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF THE ALTAR HIMSELF the EUCHARIST.to much that has been given, much will be required.St.BARTHOLOMEW,APOSTLE ORA PRO NOBIS!

Father,
You said that Jesus is emphatically human and emphatically divine, not a bland mixture of the two. Are we the same when we receive Him in the Eucharist; just colorless sketches of ourselves until that moment when the Eucharist transforms us into itself? Also, I think you’re right about gradual progression. God is gracious not to let us chew more than we can swallow.

I think that when Jesus asks his listeners how they might handle seeing him ascend to from where he came! This fits with their earlier refusal to accept him as the bread that has come down from heaven. They balk.
Thanks for the great homilies.

The other day my friend and I had a conversation and it brought strife within our conversation...then the Ego came into play... she asked about Mother Mary and then the Rosary and myperspective on the matter, confused her more..Then I had to stop there and mentioned her to talk to her parish priest bc I do not know the answers...I found out the hard way in humility comes forgiveness and through my journey, since renewal came to be that those who believe might understand but I leave it it up to the theologians, priests and Pope to answer those questions....The Word is the truth and the truth is the Word of God.

I am so thankfull for these last five Sunday's sermons and all the wonderfull sermons from Father Barron. They have been life saving for myself when I have been away from the Eucharist for over a year. The Lord is so mercifull giving me His Word, His teachings, and using Father Barron as the His instrument.

The Words of Eternal Life
This has always keeps me wondering why even to this day and I think even more so, people chooses another way.
But with things like what Fr. Robert brings to the call of new evangelization, people have the chance to understand it even further and ultimately choose our Brother, Jesus our Lord and Savior, for: "To Whom Shall We Go?". He is truly the Holy One of God!
May God Bless Us All!

Thanks for term 'disciplina arcani'
Sometimes when discussing my faith with non-christians I did not know whether to answer all the questions they asked because some were just casual without seriousness.
I had the thought of 'If you deny me I will deny you' words of Jesus. Now I know denying Him would be in the way I live.
And now I go with your words 'First joy (of the faith) then ethics'
