Dr. Father,
I don't expect this to be accepted, I just had to ask: What is it with the men and women today? Are they stupid, desperate or both, to not settle for the higher ideal and pursue it with determination? Instead we see over and over again addictions, suicides, depression, sadness, lifelessness in soooo very many in all age ranges. What prevents them from waking up and getting a grip?

How beautiful to hear this on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi & hear the connection of marriage to the beauty of all creation! I think the conveniences of our modern society allow us to sleepwalk throughout our day and accept any distraction from this slumber. As Father mentioned, however, by seeking what is true, good, & beautiful, we can tune ourselves to want more than a distraction or passing relationship.

How can this be? I thought I had nothing to say.

... the joke that’s been around forever.. “is there really such thing as bad sex?” (what kind of a joke is that?)

Yea... there really is such a thing as bad sex. It’s that physical act that’s missing the Divine presence. And you can take that to eternity or... know you won’t settle for less.

I’ll never fit in.

Father Barron,
I have spoken in tongues; one time in front of the Tabernacle the meaning of the word is exactly what our Holy Pope Benedict XVI is writing about. I encourage everyone to read his writings & learn about his work. This Pope is a Great Gift to all from Our God the Almighty. I count myself blessed to be on earth @ the same time as him.
When your sermons go into a persons heart Father Barron, may they be rooted in good soil & The Word not be thrown out of the house.
Thank u,
Roman Catholic Prayer Warrior

Peace be with you Father Barron!i was talking to a world war two veteran last week, thanking him for serving our country in its time of need.when i asked him how many years he and his wife had been married,he said over 50 years. The soft spoken man then said that his sweetheart had died a few yrs ago.He looked at me with tears in his eyes and i could not help that this touched my heart. In my own family, with my grandparents the same held true. With the huge divorce rate of today and the many fatherless children things are very different. No wonder it is so common to refer to my grandparents generation as the greatest generation. What went so very wrong?MI IMMACULATA

THank you Father Barron for your insightful gathering of thoughts to share with all who are working to build up the kingdom of God. I am a blessed pilgrim given the gift of a "Third Person Marriage" and 5 children who value their sexuality, albeit it causes much suffering. It is an understatement to state that my children "suffer" in today's sexual culture. While they accept it as part of their cross on earth, they feel very much alone. You mentioned a few books during this sermon...was it Leonard Saxton, etc. that you suggested for reading? Please let me know. Maybe a few other books for support and encouragement for 20 something crew.
