Sermon 620 : True Kingship : Christ the King
11/25/2012
Please click the play button above to listen now.
At the end of the liturgical year, we celebrate the feast of Christ the King. But Christ's kingship is different from any with which we're familiar - his kingdom "does not belong to this world." His kingship doesn't demand violence, but truth. Following him brings us closer to God's grace.

Peace be with you my Dear Father Barron!pilate asked our LORD JESUS,what is truth veratatis? When the truth itself, the Son of the Living God is standing right in front of him.It has been said that relativism started sometime in the sixties.i think this was perhaps the case for America, but as with all the other isms probably since the beginning.Have a blessed thanksgiving Father and thank you for your as always brilliant sermons!MI IMMACULATA

Fr. Barron, how fascinating is Samuel's anger at the Israelites who want an 'human' king like the other nations, when God was meant to be the 'King' who reigned over them. How fascinating God through the earthly dynasty of David provided both a human and Divine King to reign over the Kingdom. Jesus Christ is a King like no other - he came to serve not to be served and give his life as a randsom for many -he is the High Priest and the perfect sacrifice. If I had been the only person in need of salvation, He would have allowed Himself to go through His Passion, Death and Resurrection just for me! Each time I receive Jesus in the Eucharist, I ask Him to come and be enthroned in my heart and in my life, to be the Lord and King of all I am and have and do and to sweep away anything not of Him, for Him to increase and for me to decrease. Viva Christo Rei!
Thank You and blessings
Maria

d.a.g.
A President should not take the place of The King.
If President = our will & King = Truth.
- Presidentship is by vote BUT Kingship is by inheritance.
- we can vote for our will BUT we cannot vote for the Truth.
- we possess our will BUT Truth possesses us.
- we cannot serve two Masters, our will & Truth, equally.
- our will exceeds Truth = Original Sin.
- 'Not my will BUT your will(Truth) be done.'
Jesus came to testify(provide evidence) to the Truth.

Christ The King of all galaxies, His Throne more steadfast than any physical element; be it metals, gems, the proportions of physics, or the human heart: His Robe mirrored in the majesty of the mystery of His Mercy, the veils of all prophecy illuminating the meek and sobered conscience: His Word the breath of our being, and subject to The Will, submission to The Father! All Power and Glory, all Grace and Forgiveness, our earthly trials, not near a sliver of the wood cross from which we embrace our reason to Hope! Thank-you for reminding me, Fr. Barron, of The Feast which is part of Bride's inheritance! God Speed!

Thank you once again Father for the succinct homily. For d.a.g., I really like what you wrote. Thank you. Ok, let us all go to the Chapel and adore our King there. There, we can repeat what we just pledged here because action speaks more than words. Oh King of obedience, humility, purity, and poverty in the Blessed Sacrament, how long how long will I see you face to face...

For me, the word "Leader" has the force that "King" has for those in a kingdom. Those who lead us on earth are usually strong, physically, mentally or spiritually. Tribes would chose the leader who had these abilities to help them survive. Jesus, our leader, has chosen us, not vice versa. Big difference. We do not transmit any power to Him. I think what we DO give Him is our allegiance to His call to follow, and all that that entails.
