Peace be with you my Dear Father Barron!Thank you! i was talking to one of my Rabbi friends at work about the temple being burnt to the ground. He said as devastating as it was,it could have been even worse. The wrath of God could have been taken out on his people themselves.i think this is key Father as you said, what the scriptures are saying to the people of that time.Cardinal Dolan also said that many people speculate when our LORD JESUS will return in full glory. The Cardinal said this is not what should be our focus, but to be ready when Jesus our LORD and GOD returns in the end of time.MI IMMACULATA

Thank you Fr. Barron. I wish that my parish Priests had your charism for homiletics. Mass would become a more fulfilling experience for so many as they would find the Liturgy of the Word to be as meaningful as the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

I've listened to this several times. There is SO much in it. wow. I want to absorb it all and know i'll still want more.

All in all, how can anybody hear this and not desire to live a life pleasing God.

It's kind of like that healthy fear that is only surpassed by Love.

Father Barron is a great history professor, but he is not pastoral. He is missing the practical response to the Scripture. It would be helpful if he can give some examples on how to prepare for the Lord.

The word of God did not come to the rich, famous & powerful. It came to the one in the desert. The obstacles in the 'highway for the Lord' is Sin. To prepare ourselves is to repent for our Sins.

The tempatations to Sin come from 3 categories:
- sensual pleasure = food, drink, sex, wealth.(Rich)
- honour = need to be seen by others, fame.(Famous)
- power = need to be able to manipulate others.(Powerful)

More clearly explained by Fr. Barron in

Catechism(CCC)377
- The "mastery" over the world that God offered man from the beginning was realized above all within man himself: mastery of self.

- The first man was unimpaired and ordered in his whole being because he was free from the triple concupiscence that subjugates him to the pleasures of the senses, covetousness for earthly goods, and self-assertion, contrary to the dictates of reason.

Your post has further explained (to me) the rightly ordered life and compelled me to look beyond original sin. A recent Genesis reading from one Priest had me walking out of church confused, hurting, and feeling ashamed to be a woman.

I see something in your post that has reassured me and my belief in the rightly ordered life. Thanks.

Ricardo,My Dear brother in CHRIST,i must disagree with you.Father Barron is very direct in his spiritual direction for his flock. He has opened the door to JESUS our LORD and SAVIOR through the SACRED SCRIPTURES.JESUS HIMSELF tells us how to prepare. We are to LOVE first the LORD our GOD and our neighbor .We are to pray without ceasing. This is in and out of season. No matter what the circumstance is.Peace be with you!OUR Jewish elder brothers suffered the temple being burnt to the ground and many lives lost, but the ALMIGHTY could have let them be completely wiped out from the face of the earth.MI IMMACULATA
