Father Barron on Barack Obama's "The Audacity of Hope"
A democracy will only function properly if and only if there is no ambiguity about the moral ends of the society (e.g. abortion).
Hi Fr - great to listen to these clips ..
interesting take on Obama, esp given his moral point made in his Nobel Prize speach - a speach that many have called his best yet, and certainly most substantial since he took office - perhaps time for another clip on Obama's take on morality in the public square?

Reply to Father Barron on Barack Obama's "The Audacity of Hope"
Jefferson's "Declaration" provides this moral clarity through the principles "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," life being the operative one in Father's discussion. The "Declaration" does not define these as transient or contingent but "unalienable." We are "endowed" with these by God, "our Creator." They are not relative, nor do they fluctuate according to one's particular perspective. Rather, they are powerfully "self-evident," clearly understandable, universal. And I can recall every president in my lifetime invoking these moral principles as if descending from Sinai.
Obama, as Clinton before him, as a campaigning Kerry, Dukakis, and Mondale, all of these men have engaged in rhetorical acrobatics concerning abortion. Listening to any of them, I'm reminded of Voltaire, "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." 50 million aborted babies and counting.

Well said Mark. Very well put.
I cannot understand how anybody can even begin to contemplate any human right while ignoring the most fundamental right that underlies all others - the Right to Life.

I was just curious what your thoughts are on the youtube do*****entaries called Obama Deception (you can also type in FEMA Camps and FEMA coffins to learn more.) These do*****entaries are related to the NWO or New World Order, and are quite frightening. The Audacity to Hope idicates the writer would have little hope, which corresponds to these do*****entaries. Can you shed some light on this? The consequences are horrific, if true. I for one am praying during this month of respect life, that God places his hand over those with plans to harm and kill people on massive levels, to stop them. Thank You!

Well spoken, you cannot have it both ways...this indicates division within himself...many great comments it is amazing that we live in a country where you can be sentenced to death for killing and you can also be allowed to kill...we need some absolutes...you cannot have it both ways...praying always for life...
