With 250 of you we could retake the landscape, Father. It took a long time to dig the hole and it will take time to fill it, but I see it coming. Bible studies, mostly formulated by converts, speakers, EWTN, conferences, Catholic.com et. al., It's coming.

Your videos and sermons have been the catalyst for me in 're-discovering' my faith. That's not to say I ever doubted the truths about the Bible, but my faith was wounded for many years. You have helped more than words can describe the healing process that it needed to go through.
I also hope you have another 25 years!

Congratulations Father! You are not the only one rejoicing at your ordination today. Thank you for your presence and your work and the wonderful team you have gathered at Word on Fire. Recently, some people at my parish have stopped to thank me for introducing them to your podcasts and sermons. Those thanks belong to you.

As a hopeful seminarian this time has become one of ducking and dreading what will come next but, I cannot help but feel hopeful, with these words of encouragement. One thing my spiritual adviser said that will always stay with me is that “Priests are called to be bridges between the world and God, and bridges get walked all over”. Just because a few bridges have failed we don’t tear them all down. Thank you Fr. Barron Christos Kurios!

I have my suspicions these problems are based in the residual Jansenism still hanging about, especially in Ireland and, although not a fan of Freud, has resulted in repression and reaction formations in tension with a predominantly hedonistic culture, which ends up getting acted out.

Super comments from everyone. This must be a great boost for you Father!
I have sent this to every Priest on my mailing list and I am sure that it will help to re inspire them.
If I was starting out all over and knowing what I know now, I would definitely want to be a Priest.
Such an amazing vocation.
The best on the planet!

Congratulations on your 25th year of being a priest, Fr. Barron! I was confirmed in Easter of 2010 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago from a protestant background and was later very, very inspired by your knowledge of scripture, tradition, and your gifted homilies and retreat videos. Thanks for helping me grow in faith and understanding as a Catholic Christian, and I look forward to viewing your Catholicism project! May God continue to bless you and your ministry!

The devil is persecuting the Catholic Church. Jesus Christ told Peter that Satan would sift him(Peter)like wheat. The chaf would be blown away in the wind. When the person consents to mortal sin he automatically excommunicates himself and becomes an excommunicant, no longer in the church. When a person exercises his crime, he becomes an outlaw and forfeits his citizenship, and is no longer a member of the state. (being a member of the state requires that the person constitute the state with his sovereign personhood, which he has discarded). The sovereign personhood of the citizen constitutes state. The sovereign personhood of the human being is endowed by our Creator when two become one. The sovereign person becomes a citizen at birth.

God bless you Father Barron and the work you do! Your site and other Catholic sites have inspired me to consider embarking on my own evangelizing mission back in my home country. I fully agree with you now is a great time to be a priest. While I'm not a priest myself, your site has helped me realize that any Catholic, priest or not, can go on an evangelizing mission for the Church. Congratulations on your first 25 years in the priesthood and may the next 25 continue to be just as inspired and inspiring.

Dear drichard and all those who have contributed to this post, I just want to say how wonderful it is that there are so many people who can spot a real GEM when one appears on the scene.
We are so blessed and have a huge responsibility as a result to keep Word on Fire in our Prayers. Please pray the Rosary Prayer and make sure that you mention Word on fire in your intentions and particularly Father Bob!!!
God bless you all I am so proud to be among those who have spotted Father Bob and can appreciate his great value to our HURTING WORLD at this present time.

One more comment... your reflections about the sex abuse scandals in the priesthood have been open, honest, and with indignation that everyone can agree with. The paradox of the world outrage over the injustice of the cases of priesthood abuses suggests that at some level the world actually agrees with the sexual ethics taught by the Catholic Catechism and the dignity of persons that should never be violated by anyone. The world longs for and needs priests to live up the teachings of the Catholic Catechism which flow from the teachings and life of Christ in the Gospels!

A very honest and profound contribution by Father Bob to the spiritual nourishment given to him by his life of service and devotion to those around. He correctly offers no excuses for the appalling acts of some priests or the incompetence or terrible negligence of bishops. Father makes a great point in relation to how we should not let the reputation or image of the Catholic Church be reduced to the sex-abuse scandal-terrible though it is. The 2000 year old history of the Church founded by Christ has a great enduring, multi-layered legacy of unsurpassed wisdom, art and music, culture and philosophy behind it.

I really appreciate and enjoy your videos Fr. Barron, and I enjoyed this one too but I was hoping it would be something more guided on helping men who are discerning whether or not they are called to be priests. Do you have any commentaries (or would make a commentary) that's more discernment focused I would greatly appreciate it.
God Bless!
