Kathy
A priest at our parish, on Pentecost, said, "You have to be hungry!" To hunger for the Holy Spirit, the Fruits, and the Gifts. St. Theresa in her joy, still hungered, didn't she?
Her sadness, sometimes doubt, anxieties, were a hunger, weren't they? That connection you speak of, between the Father and the Son, was resolved through the hunger of Love, wasn't it? The long-suffering, patient endurance, the faithfulness and self control, the joy, may not be ever satisfied totally on this dimension without the Peace of the cross itself, who is Jesus.
God Speed!

I just saw this quote from St Faustina
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion
inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Would you say that somehow or somewhere in the ultimate depths of fullness in the fruits is authentic detachment?

RE: RICHARD WISE
St. Faustina, and the message of The Divine Mercy! Are you familiar with her Diary, the chaplet said at 3PM, the intercessory prayer line? Trusting in Jesus, as best I can, in His Mercy, let me say, reading your quote confirmed my simple devotion to her. Thank-you and God Speed!

RE: JOAN
Such wisdom in your question!
If you have not read it already, you may find your question answered in the Thomas A' Kempis book, "THE IMITATION OF CHRIST".

A favorite prayer is "Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth." I liked to invite the Holy Spirit before each of my Religious Ed classes.

I'd heard of TS Eliot but not that line about coffeespoons. My online search yielded this:
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
I believe this intro is in Italian, but I'm not sure. :)
...and here is the reference to coffeespoons, for anyone who may be interested:
For I have known them all already, known them all:
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons, 50
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.
So how should I presume?

Thank you Father again! This one I need to savour slowly. It's SO rich and deep! I forwarded this link to all my friends - my "Internet Ministry".
I start every day praying St. Augustine of Hippo's Holy Spirit prayer:
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
that I always may be holy.
Amen.

To receive the Holy Spirit we must ask, and this action coincides precisely with the Jesus Prayer. The art of praying this prayer is the subject of the classic book, "The Way of a Pilgrim". St. Symeon The New Theologian also gives us testimony about the efficacious results of this beautiful manner of praying without ceasing.

In asking for the Holy Spirit, I have found the 'Jesus Prayer' to be most efficacious. Many of the saints like St. Symeon give testimony to this type of prayer as an aid to praying without ceasing. The classic book, "The Way of the Pilgrim" also is a an excellent reference.

Love multiplies when it is shared. A resilient daisy will bloom where she’s planted. Sometimes we try to hide behind our feebleness and pretend that God has no use for us. We have no idea when our interactions with others might reflect God’s love. Is it ok to ask for the Holy Spirit despite our shortcomings? I have to believe it is.Paul says ‘God’s love is made perfect in weakness.’

The amber colored, stained glass window with the descending dove that is in this video, has also been featured in the "Catholicism" video series. Where is this stained glass window located?
