Written Word > Articles & Commentaries > February 2011 > The Last Acceptable Prejudice Rides Again
Current rating: 4.9 (13 ratings)
These atheists and secularists are perpetrating the same injustices and prejudices as they accuse Christians of committing. This is extreme hypocrisy. A list can easily be composed of all their crimes. As a comparison, I have read that as a whole more children are sexually molested by public school faculty. An example of a religion that condones abuse of children is Islam. Mohammed married a 6 year old and consummated the marriage at 9 years old which has been emulated by many male followers of Mohammed. And a great many more people were killed by atheists and non-Christians, such as Pol Pot (killing fields), Stalin (gulag), Mao (the great leap forward), and Hitler (holocaust) than during the Crusades and inquisition. And these atheists are portraying themselves as an intelligent and peaceful alternative to Christianity? Within Christianity there are moral boundaries and Christians do violate these boundaries, however they don’t claim to be sinless. On the other hand, atheists (through relativism) do not own up to their injustices, their crimes, and their prejudices.

I too can attest to rampent anti-catholicism on college campuses, Father. I don't know how many times the word "doctrine" is used by a professor to wrongly describe everything under the Catholic sky. (ex: The "doctrine" of the quickening). Also I had one professor who mocks Christians almost every class. His latest stunt was broadbrushing Christians as people who beleive the world is "4011" years old.

Father, can't you debate these people or maybe write a book specifically responding to this type of childish theology to raise them up to an intelligible level?
You said something must be done, and I think that it is important to engage these militant atheists in the same forum as they have attacked us.

Father, I read this article and watched the YouTube video on the same subject, and while I very much agree with you, I still have a question.

While I do not believe what is being said about the pope regarding the sex abuse scandal, I still don't know exactly what were the "concrete steps" he took to address it. Now, I'm not accusing Benedict XVI of anything, I just happen to be in the dark on the subject (understandably, given how it isn't being mentioned in the secular media). Father, could you please elaborate on the subject or refer me to somewhere else that offers a detailed explanation?

Thanks, and keep up the good work. God bless, Father Barron.
