Dear Fr Barron,
Can it be said that this was permitted by God as a consequence of sin (not original sin where disharmony did enter the world) - not necessarily sin in Japan, but human sin. In other words we caused this ourselves, not God, through our sin.

Also, a different point - that this could be have been avoided if sin was fought against through prayer, sacrifice etc., as we see in the Old Testament, and as Our Lady said at Fatima? In other words if we had called on God's help.

I agree with Fr. Barron - I don't see this as a punishment - God loves the Japanese as He loves all of us. Regardless of all of our sin, why then Japan? This is simply a part of the process of nature that God has chosen not to interfere with.
Sin is being fought with prayer and sacrifice, constantly, all over the world. I'm not sure any more would have changed anything, but only He knows.
Thank you, Fr. Barron, for a great explanation
