It pains me to hear about Woody Allen or his work. Did he not have relations with his adoptive daughter? Did he not marry her when she came of age? If we want to use anything about Woody Allen as commentary I would think that his sins of "superbia" should resound the deepest.

How many of the elite entertainment people believe they are above the moral law? I do not care how many depictions of Christ he shows in his warped pictures. I stopped laughing when I think of how he harmed one of God's children.

Please don't encourage people to support such behaviour.

I find it refreshing and gratifying that the Church is incorporating Kierkegaard’s philosophy and making it meaningful and relevant with a Woodie Allen movie review: ‘Vicky and Christina.’ Sourcing Kierkegaard can enrich Catholicism and expand its sphere of influence even further. Father Barron should be commended for sharing his views and insightful perspective with the world at large. It seems that no area or walks of life escapes his critical thinking. In today’s frenetic fragmented image obsessed society, such insightful analysis of entertainment, sports, news events and pressing issues of the day, can uncover hidden connecting truths behind them, making it all encompassing and even bringing it to very center of one’s existence. In this day and age.... that is truly remarkable indeed.

As a non-Catholic believer drifting by this page on the hunt for links between Allen and Kierkegaard, I greatly enjoyed your thoughts. I'd like to see the comment re various of his movies -- "religion, especially Catholicism, haunts the scene" -- unpacked further.

Blessings,
Jon Trott
